Union Minister of Women and Child Development of India and BJP leader Smriti Irani on Wednesday campaigned in State’s Panna for BJP leader V D Sharma, who is contesting from the Khajuraho constituency and asserted that Congress has accepted its defeat even before voting in this Lok Sabha seat. “Congress has accepted its defeat even before voting in this Lok Sabha seat. This is the reason Congress is not contesting from this seat,” said Smriti Irani.
Notably, under the seat sharing arrangement with Samajwadi Party, Congress has left this seat. Launching an attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) extended support to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Lok Sabha elections, she roared that “If you threaten to defame the country, it will not tolerate and won’t forgive you (Tumne Agar Desh Ko Kalankit Krne Ke Liye....).”

In a veiled attack on Congress, She said , They “are now asking for support from terrorist organisations. They are these people who opposed the abrogation of Article 370A in the Parliament. These are the people who asked the soldiers to present the proof of Air strikes in Balakot. Today these people threaten the country for power.” Earlier on Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief V D Sharma filed his nomination papers from Khajuraho Parliamentary seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections at Panna collector office. Along with Irani, State BJP chief was accompanied by State Cabinet Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, BJP MLAs Brijendra Pratap Singh and Sanjay Pathak on the occasion. Irani further congratulated VD Sharma and other party workers for their hard work. That’s why BJP is creating landmark success in the state. Slamming practice of dynasty politics, She said, “people who are born in political families possess haughtiness and think that power is their political birthright. It is also displayed by those who inherit power as a legacy.”
