NAGPUR boxers brought laurels to city as well as state by clinching medals at the Khelo India National Talent Hunt National Boxing Championship. The championship was held at Rohtak in Haryana recently. A total of five boxers won gold, silver and bronze medals in various weight categories. In the girls section, Samiksha Singh of Nagpur was successful in bagging gold medal. She defeated Divya of Uttar Pradesh in the final. In boys section, city’s Anant Deshmukh secured first place in his category by defeating Roop Yadav of Uttar Pradesh.
 
City’s Malhar Sable had to settle for a silver after losing to Chandigarh’s Harsh in the final. Dhariya Kothi and Shraddha Khobragade ended the campaign with a bronze in their pocket. All these players practice under coach Ganesh Purohit at Mankapur Indoor Stadium. Raunak Khambalkar was the team coach for this championship.
