Weather gods continue to give confusing signals, leaving citizens wondering whether to continue using sun goggles or to bring out the rain wear from closets. On Sunday again, the weather took a confusing turn as mercury dropped by almost eight degrees, reminding one of the memories of a visit to a hill station, as with it the summer scorch was also gone. Although the city did experience rains, it was more or less light showers that too fell intermittently in different parts of time during the evening hours. However, throughout the day dark clouds hovered over the skies and expectedly citizens enjoyed the cool breeze for a while as later the sharp rains spoiled the evening plans. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) had already predicted three days of rains and hailstorm from April 7 to 9 in Vidarbha. So the change in weather was more or less expected but the sharp drop in temperature was however beyond expectations for many.

For Nagpurians however, the chill in the atmosphere proved somewhat spoiler as it came on the Sunday when weekend parties were just starting to get into the mood. The swinging changes in the weather too is going to trouble the citizens as due to urban chaos and tension of living life on the edge and handling the pressures of expectations, the bodies ability to adjust to vagaries is diminishing these days. Hence such sharp changes in weather leaves people vulnerable to flu and other form of illness. Till yesterday, it was shining bright and almost all houses had put on their cooling system that provided respite from the simmering heat that is hallmark of summer in Vidarbha’s hinterland. But even last year, similar hide and seek was played out in the atmosphere as mercury hovered between hitting the upper higher circuit to suddenly plummeting with rains and thunderstorm.

This year, citizens said it’s almost a replica of weather pattern of what happened last year as the summer scorch started to hit the higher circuit too early and expectedly, it led to sudden downpour to cool down the frayed nerves. The cool phenomena in weather was witnessed across Vidarbha where temperature drop ranged from two to eight degrees Celsius. As per the RMC, the next two days would witness further strong wind accompanied with thunder and lighting and advised citizens to remain vigilant.
