SHIVAJI Nagar Gymkhana (SNG-A), Guards Regiment Centre (GRC), Kamptee and Nutan Bharat Yuvak Sangh (NBYS) stormed into the semi-finals of the Inter-Club Senior District Basketball Championship currently in progress at NBYS Bajaj Nagar on Friday.
SNG-A men pipped Navyuvak Krida Mandal (NKM) 67-45. In the first quarter 22-9, NKM too fought hard in the second quarter to take it 12-15, while the third quarter was equally fought 15-15, the final quarter went 18-6.
Sarthak Dhuldhule (25), Siddhesh Kulkarni (15), Ajay Pande (11) were the top scorers for SNG-A, while for NKM Himanshu Shende (14), Pranay Bhagat (10) scored the top points.
In the second last-eight match of the day, GRC Kamptee dominated Nagpur Amateur Sporting Association (NASA) 68-43. The first quarter was won by NASA 10-16, GRC Kamptee then took the second quarter 25-12. The low scoring third quarter was again taken by GRC 11-4. In the fourth quarter GRC bagged the lead 25-11. Sonu Kumar with 20 points scored the most points for GRC Kamptee, while was NASA, Vallabh Trivedi (16) was the top scorer.
Smit Joshi and Yash Jivtode scored 19 and 17 points respectively as NBYS defeated Hanuman Nagar Krida Mandal (HKM) 57-36. HKM only managed 8 points in the first and second quarter, while NBYS bagged 21 and 14 respectively. HKM bounced back in the third quarter 6-16, but lost the fourth quarter 16-4. Parikshit Datir was the top scorer for HKM with 10 points.
All the semi-finals will be played on Saturday.
