The Ratibad Police have achieved a major breakthrough in curbing the rising incidents of theft by dismantling an organised gang that reconnoitred hardware shops during the day and broke their locks at night. The police have arrested three accused, including the main conspirator Shahid, who runs a scrap shop. In a major disclosure of two significant theft cases, the police seized stolen goods worth approximately Rs 3.5 lakh (including copper wire and brass bushings) from the accused.

The three members of the gang were friends. The accused used Farman’s scooter to conduct reconnaissance of hardware stores during the day and then broke locks to commit theft at night. They directly sold the expensive stolen electronic items to Shahid’s scrap shop located in Kazi Camp.

Two police teams were formed to investigate the thefts that occurred on September 30 (Maa Sharda Workshop) and August 16 (Motor Binding Shop).

To trace the thieves’ route, the police thoroughly examined footage from approximately 650 CCTV cameras across more than 10 police station areas. Based on the footage and technical assistance, the police arrested the accused Pammi alias Farman (24), Rizwan (18), and Shahid. During interrogation, the accused confessed to all the incidents, admitting that they sold the stolen goods at Shahid’s scrap shop.

The police have also seized the stolen property and the tools used in the crime and presented the accused before the court.
