Issuing an order, District Magistrate and Collector, Raghavendra Singh has banned the manufacturing, storage, purchase, sale, distribution and display of carbide guns in the district. District Magistrate and Collector Raghavendra Singh exercising his powers under the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, has issued the prohibitory order in the public interest and to maintain law and order.

This order has come into effect with immediate effect. The prohibitory order issued by the District Magistrate clarified that no individual, organization, or business shall manufacture, store, purchase, or sell illegal modified firecrackers (carbide guns) that produce excessive noise by filling iron, steel or PVC pipes with explosive material. The order also completely prohibits their sale, distribution, and display.

The prohibitory order directs all SDMs, Executive Magistrates, police officers, and related departments to strictly enforce this order. The prohibitory order issued by the District Magistrate stated that it has come to their notice through news published and circulated in the media and social media that illegal modified firecrackers (carbide guns) that produce excessive noise by filling steel or PVC pipes with explosive material are being sold.

The calcium carbide contained in it causes damage to the eyes and face, which is likely to cause serious harm to common citizens. The order stated that any person aggrieved by the prohibitory order can file an application in the Collector’s Court under Section 163(5) of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023. The prohibitory order also warns of action under the Indian Civil Security Code against anyone violating it.
