MECHANICAL Department defeated Traction Rolling Stock team (TRS) via tie-breaker after 1-1 draw in regulation time to lift the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Challenge Cup Football Tournament which was held Ajni Railway Stadium with great enthusiasm.

 

The tourney was played in a league-cum-knockout basis, with two pools of A and B with five teams each. The match was graced by Divisional Railway Manager of Nagpur, Vinayak Garg who also presented the awards to the champions and participants. Mechanical Department got richer by Rs 15,000, while the runner-up, TRS, received Rs 10,000.

 

The Best Player of the tournament award went to Karan Khobragade of Mechanical Department while Rahul Pali was declared the Best Goalkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan the Best Forward, Suddu the Best Midfielder, and Sanjay Kumar the Best Defender. The Fair Play Team Award was conferred upon Traction Rolling-stock Operations (TRO) team for displaying exemplary discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

 

The event was graced by Manoj Kumar Pingle, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and Mohan Kumar Choudhary, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction Distribution) and Sports Officer, Ritesh Anand, Sports Secretary of DSA and members of the organising committee, participating teams, and enthusiastic spectators.
