Strict action ordered against Sonography Centres in city
Additional District Collector Pravin Mahire has instructed officials to take strict action against sonography centres found violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act. He directed the Divisional Revenue Officer and concerned authorities to conduct surprise inspections to prevent any illegal sex determination activities in the district.
A District Vigilance Committee meeting was held to review the effective implementation of the PCPNDT Act, 1994 (amended in 2003).
The meeting was attended by Dr Nivrutti Rathod (District Surgeon and Member Secretary), Dr Rajkumar Gehlot (District Health Officer), Dr Deepak Selokar (Municipal Medical Health Officer), API Madhuri Gaikwad, and officials from the Food and Drug Administration and other departments.
Mahire underlined the focus on centres with a high rate of abortions and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity confidentially on the toll-free number 1800-233-4475 or via [www.amchimulgi.gov.in](http://www.amchimuli.gov.in).
During the meeting, reviews were also conducted under the National Tobacco Control Program, National Oral Health Program, and National Fluorosis Control Program. Police were instructed to act under the COTPA Act, while various departments were asked to organise public awareness programmes, especially under the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign. Schools were also directed to implement the Pitt and Fisher programme and conduct medical camps for fluoride-related health checks.
