In a major move to make the city debris-free, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is going to initiate a Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Cleaning Campaign throughout the city between November 6 and 8.
Under this campaign, the Solid Waste Management Department will remove all debris and C&D waste dumped at all city squares and roadsides. Along with this, NMC also appealed to other development authorities of the city to remove their dumped debris and C&D waste from roadsides and squares during that period.
Individuals who dumped C&D waste on roads will also be fined by the civic body during the campaign. There are many developmental projects underway in the city that are generating C&D waste in huge quantities.
To keep the city clean and avoid dust pollution, NMC has planned this campaign.
NMC also directed all its 10 assistant commissioners to collect construction debris from their respective zones. NMC also informed Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Maha Metro, Public Works Department (PWD), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL), Indian Railways, etc. about the campaign and urged them to remove their debris from roadsides.
NMC will use excavators,
tipper trucks and other
heavy machinery for this campaign.
