Nagpur Flying Club brought laurels to the city as it placed in the ‘B’ grade category of the first-ever rankings released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently. With this grade, Nagpur Flying Club secured its position in the top 10 of this category. It is one of 13 Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) to receive this designation. The aviation regulator provided the category grades for FTOs based on their performance, safety, and compliance, informed Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner and President of Nagpur Flying Club here on Tuesday.

The Maharashtra Government-run Nagpur Flying Club has four trainer aircraft, and it is functional under the permission of the Central Government’s DGCA. Keeping the demand in mind, the state government has formed another base in Morwa airport in Chandrapur recently. Morwa Airport also got the green signal by DGCA for flying club operations. After getting permission from the centre in February this year, Morwa Airport has completed 772 hours of training. There are three Cessna 152 and one Cessna 172 aircraft are operational under Nagpur Flying Club. The current batch contains 41 trainee pilots, in which 26 are going through flying training and 10 are on the ground training process.
