Incidents of molestation and rape against minors and women in the State capital continue unabated. According to police records, a total of 35 serious cases of rape and molestation have been registered in just one and a half months, from the beginning of October to November 16.

These cases include 27 counts of molestation and 8 counts of rape. A deeply concerning factor is that 9 minor girls are among the victims. A closer look at the figures reveals that 16 new cases were reported between November 1 and 16, meaning that on average, one woman or minor is becoming a victim of such crimes every day. In October, 15 molestation and 4 rape cases were registered, while the first half of November

(Nov 1-16) saw 12 molestation and 4 rape incidents. Known acquaintances and social media identified as key factors: Police records indicate that in the majority of the cases, the accused were known acquaintances of the victim. Furthermore, in several incidents, young women were lured into relationships, often through friendships started on social media, particularly

Instagram, which subsequently led to acts of rape. Record analysis shows that the highest number of cases, four each, were registered in the Habibganj, Kolar, and Piplani police station areas. Additionally, 2 to 3 incidents were registered in police stations like Aishbagh, Ratibad, Gandhi Nagar, rural Itkhedi, and Bilkhiria, suggesting that the crime graph has surged across all parts of the city.
