SIX sportspersons of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) did the forest department proud by winning several medals in the 28th All India Forest Sports meet held in Dehradun, recently.
The sportspersons delivered an outstanding performance, with five participants securing four gold, as many silver and a bronze medal.
Himani Dhanre claimed gold medals in weightlifting and powerlifting events while she secured a bronze medal in 4x100m relay.
Similarly, Aachal Kadukar won a silver medal in 21 km women’s half marathon after Akhil Jadhav clinched a gold medal in 25 km men’s half marathon.
He also went on to add another gold medal to his kitty winning the 5 km running event. He signed off with two silver medals in 1500m and 800m running events. Anand Reddy and Anuj Sagle pocketed the silver medal in doubles category in table tennis. Jadhav was adjudged the best athlete in the men’s open category, bringing immense pride to TATR. Of the six participants, five belonged to the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF), while Reddy, IFS, represented the Indian Forest Service and currently serves as the Deputy Director (Core), TATR.
Field Director, TATR, Prabhu Nath Shukla, felicitated all medal winners for their exceptional achievements.
Sachin Shinde, Divisional Forest Officer was also present during the ceremony.
ACF Aniruddha Dhage played a pivotal role in the team’s planning and preparation.
