Almost everyday, there were news reports about shortage of beds and stretcher in Government hospitals. Patients and their relatives have to face hardship in absence or shortage of necessary facilities. But in Khandwa district, a bizarre incident came to light highlighting Health Department employees’ gross negligence. Shockingly, dogs were roaming in the hospital and some of them were found on patients bed.
As the video of the dogs went viral on social media and attracted thousands of reactions, administration swung in to action and Khandwa Collector Rishab Gupat directed concern officials to take stringent action in the matter. Consequently, cleaner was found guilty and he has been sacked on Saturday.
Block Medical Officer Dr Dharmendra Sharma terminated the services of a cleaner with immediate effect and ordered that the seven days’ salary of the on-duty nurse be deducted.
The incident happened at the Killaud Community Health Centre.
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ over phone, Collector Rishab Gupta said that the matter has come to our knowledge through media. Health authorities were instructed to take strict action against those responsible for the lapse, and action has been taken by the Chief Medical Officer.
