BHAVAN’S Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir (BBPVM), Civil Lines branch, clinched the Team School title of 1st Modern Inter-School Chess Tournament organised by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation in association with Modern School recognised by Chess Association Nagpur at Modern School, Koradi Road, The team was represented by Chirag Lahoti, Harsh Lahoti, Arava Dhoot and Aaradhya Gedam. Total prizes worth Rs 20,000 were distributed. The winners were declared on the basis of individual scores of the top players of the respective schools. The event received a huge response with 410 participants which included 72 International Rated players. BBPVM Civil Lines scored 27 points to win the title.
 
BBPVM Trimurti Nagar scored 26 points to finish second. The team comprised Riddhi Agrawal, Nihaansha Khode, Anvika Ghodeswar and Vihaan Deshmukh. BBPVM, Ashti, with 24 points completed an all BBPVM podium finish. Ashti branch was represented by Anurag Bagdi, Rekhi Chandak, Manas Karnase and Swara Rahul Gandhi. Pankaj Rughwani, Secretary, Sindhi Hindi Vidya Samiti Nagpur was the chief guest of prize distribution function. Prominently present on the dais were Amit Yenurkar, Director, Modern School, CA Gaurav Jaipuriya, Director, Modern School, Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and Chess Association Nagpur, Rupali Dey, Principal, Modern School, and International Arbiter Shiva Iyer, Chief Arbiter of the tournament. Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Virendra Kukreja, social worker and senior BJP leader. Trophies were distributed to top scorers in Under-7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 age groups. Attractive shields were given to the school prizes winner teams.
