The Department of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the proprietor of Jai Maa Mamta Krishi Kendra, located in Budhuwa village, Sihora development block, concerning the sale of banned and expired pesticides. The FIR was lodged at the Majhgawan police station.
According to information received from Deputy Director of Agriculture, Dr S K Nigam, an unannounced inspection of M/s Jai Maa Mamta Krishi Kendra was conducted on December 5 by Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer, Sihora, Manisha Patel and Senior Agricultural Development Officer, J S Rathore.
During the inspection, the establishment was found not to be maintaining a proper stock register. The centre was storing and selling pesticides from manufacturing companies not listed on the establishment’s pesticide license.
The inspection at Jai Maa Mamta Krishi Kendra resulted in the seizure of two main categories of non-compliant materials including expired products and banned products.
The team discovered twenty-one (21) expired pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides and a stock of 51 bottles (100 ml each) of Nuvacron (Nuvacron, containing Monocrotophos) was found. The manufacture, sale, and use of
this product have been banned by the Government of India since August 8, 2018.
The expired and prohibited chemicals were seized and entrusted to the proprietor
for custody, with strict
instructions restricting their sale and purchase.
The Deputy Director, Agriculture, stated that the FIR was filed against the proprietor of Jai Maa Mamta Krishi Kendra, Rakesh Tiwari, by Jai Pal Singh Rathore of the Agriculture Department.
The charges have been registered under Sections 29(1)(a), 29(1)(d), and 29(2) of the Insecticides Act, 1968, pertaining to the sale of banned and expired pesticide products.
