In a horrific road accident, a speeding container truck collided head-on with a police vehicle, killing four policemen. The unfortunate accident occurred on Wednesday morning near Bandri on National Highway 44 in Sagar. Four police personnels were killed in the accident, while one was seriously injured and was airlifted to Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
According to information, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad from Morena district were on duty in Balaghat. The policemen were participating in an anti-Naxal operation. From there, they were returning in a BD-DS vehicle (number MP 03 A 4883) to Morena. This police vehicle collided with a container coming from opposite direction at Jhinjhani Valley near Bandri on the National Highway.
The impact was so severe that four policemen, including the dog master, lost their lives. According to information, construction work on an underpass is underway on NH-44. Due to this, traffic on the highway near Bandri has become one-way. This led to this head-on collision.
Four personnel died on the spot. They have been identified as constable Pradhuman Dixit, constable Aman Kaurav, driver Paramlal Tomar, all residents of Morena, and dog master Vinod
Sharma, hailing from Bhind. The bodies are being brought to Morena.
Another constable Rajiv Chauhan (a resident of Morena) was seriously injured in the accident. He was immediately taken to Bansal Hospital in Bhopal, where his condition was reported to be critical. Notably, a dog that was part of the squad was safe. The collision between the container and the police vehicle was so severe that the driver and constable were trapped inside the vehicle.
The police vehicle was completely damaged from the front. The bodies were removed by cutting the vehicle with the help of a JCB. A Panchnama was then prepared and the bodies were sent to Bandri Hospital. Prima facie, it seems the police vehicle’s driver lost control of the wheels, which led to the accident, the official said. The police registered a case, and a search was on for the truck driver.
