Sensation gripped Hamidia Hospital Complex after bodies of two newborn infants werer found inside a dustbin. The incident falls under Koh-e-Fiza police station area. Police have taken possession of the bodies and started further proceedings. Koh-e-Fiza Station House Officer (SHO) Krishna Gopal Shukla confirmed the incident, stating they received information about the bodies of two newborns lying in a hospital dustbin. Both infant bodies were recovered.
According to information, one of the recovered bodies was partially burnt and wrapped inside a plastic sheet. Police have prepared an official record of both bodies and safely stored them in a freezer for post-mortem.
SHO Shukla stated that post-mortem of both newborns will be done today, which will reveal correct cause and approximate time of death.
When questioned further about the newborns, the SHO said that nothing definite can be stated at this time. He mentioned that such cases often involve many complexities and legal conditions related to the hospital and legal procedures (GMC examination and action, judiciary requirements). According to police, it has not yet been revealed where these newborns came from or who placed them in the dustbin and why.
There has been no clear explanation or response from the hospital administration either. Police are now investigating whether these children are linked to the hospital’s maternity ward or if they were brought from outside and abandoned there. It is also unconfirmed whether the two children were born at the same time or separately.
