CItys hotels hit full capacity as Assembly

Business Reporter :

Hotel occupancy in Nagpur has surged to its highest level this season, driven primarily by the ongoing winter session of the State assembly, which is being held in the city from December 8 to 18. Tejinder Singh Renu, President of the Nagpur Residential Hotels Association (NRHA), said that virtually all premium hotels are booked solid, with rooms remaining fully occupied until December 18. The assembly session has been complemented by a flurry of seminars and conferences, further inflating demand. The concurrent marriage season is also contributing to the spike. Nagpur currently boasts 10–11 star-rated properties offering roughly 1,000-1,200 premium category rooms, all of which are reporting strong occupancy rates.

Nagpur city has around 10,000 hotel rooms across all categories, of which 1,000–1,200 rooms fall under the premium or star-category segment. Industry observers expect a substantial boost to continue in both tourism and business travel for the “Orange City.” Accordingly, many hotel owners are planning major expansions. Besides, about 12–13 domestic and international hospitality groups have either started construction or are poised to launch new facilities, aiming to lift the city’s total room inventory from existing 1,650 to 3,000 within the next two years. Upscale brands such as Hilton’s DoubleTree and IHCL’s Ginger, as well as domestic players like the Ashok Group (owned by Sanjay Gupta) and Hotel Balbir Inn Private Limited (owned by Tejinder Singh Renu), are leading the charge to provide luxurious accommodation options in Nagpur.
