India doubles its online public services

NEW DELHI :

INDIA has more than doubled the number of Government services available online in the past two-and-a-half years, the Government told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Responding to a question, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said that the number of e-services offered by States and Union Territories rose from 11,614 in April 2023 to 23,919 in October 2025 — a 105 per cent jump — under the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) Way Forward initiative. NeSDA is a national framework developed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in 2019 to evaluate how well States, UTs and Central ministries deliver their online services. It acts as a benchmarking tool to encourage improvements in digital governance across seven key sectors. The Minister added that the share of mandatory services available online also went up from 66 per cent to 80 per cent during the same period. To make digital access easier, 10 States and Union Territories now offer over 90 per cent of their services through a single unified portal, while six have moved all their services (100 per cent) to one platform.

Women’s share in civil services

THE proportion of women qualifying for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) has increased from 24 per cent in 2019 to 35 per cent in 2023, the Government told Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Engineering graduates consistently accounted for more than 50 per cent of successful candidates, data presented by Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh showed. Responding to a question, the Minister presented five-year data showing a steady rise in the number of female candidates in the final merit list — from 220 out of 922 candidates in 2019 to 397 out of 1,132 in 2023. At the same time, engineering stream candidates continued to dominate the merit list, with 554 engineers recommended in 2023, far outnumbering those from humanities (368), science (137), and medical science (73). The data shows that engineering graduates formed the largest cohort every year from 2019 to 2023.

The Government also reported an increase in the number of bachelor’s degree holders selected, rising from 672 in 2019 to 848 in 2023.

Pendency of public grievances drops by 74% in five years: Govt in Lok Sabha

New Delhi,

Dec 10 (PTI)

The pendency of public grievances has seen a sharp decline of 74 per cent from 10.23 lakh in 2021 to 2.62 lakh as on November 30, 2025, Lok Sabha was informed Wednesday. Giving the data on the Centralised Public Grievances Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said the consistent fall in pendency was driven by higher disposal rates, stricter timelines and new monitoring mechanisms. CPGRAMS is an online platform available to citizens 24/7 to lodge their grievances with public authorities on any subject related to service delivery. Responding to a question, the Minister said disposals have remained higher than receipts for five consecutive years, while grievance receipts have stayed broadly stable except for a spike in 2024. The Minister said that despite a large volume of complaints, pendency has been steadily and significantly reduced.
