Staff Reporter :
AS PART of the ‘Future Voters Educational Dialogue Series’, an
inspiring and informative democratic awareness programme
was organised at Anjuman
Islamia English Higher
Secondary School on Wednesday. Held in the presence of Dr
Pramod Shrivastava, Keynote
Speaker and District Co-ordina
tor SVEEP, Principal, Sabina and
all the teachers and students, the
primary objective of this program
was to engage women and girls
from minority communities with
voter list purification (ASDR) and
voting rights awareness.
The programme highlighted
that if Muslim women volunteer
to participate in the ASDR
process and digitise enumeration
forms during the SIR, they are
not merely fulfilling a formality- but are democratically empowering the future of the entire community. The students were
explained about ASDR - Absent,
Shift, Death (Dead) and Repeated
(Removing duplicate/inactive
entries) in simple language to
update the list and families were
encouraged to implement it.
The students were told that,
besides being future voters, they
can play an important role in the
family by filling out digitised voter list enumeration forms, pro
viding information about neccessary documents, and getting
women’s names included in the
voter list.
This active participation not only develops demo
cratic understanding but also
creates a new wave of awareness
throughout the family.
Dr Shrivastava explained that
the students participated enthusiastically and declared them
selves ready to spread awareness
among the community as ‘future
voter ambassadors’ and pledged
to contribute to the SIR campaign.
