The Kai Laxmanrao Mankar Smruti Sanstha, which operates under the guidance of Nitinji Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, has achieved a historic milestone - its registration as an NPO (Non-Profit Organisation) on the BSE Social Stock Exchange. This registration is a significant achievement for the organisation, which is dedicated to bringing children from remote tribal communities into the mainstream of education.
The information regarding the registration was conveyed to the Kai Laxmanrao Mankar Smruti Sanstha via a letter from the BSE Social Stock Exchange on December 9.
The registration of the organisation has come into effect from December 9. This development provides a significant boost to the organisation’s efforts to continue its social work with greater vigour in the future, giving its social contributions a new, national-level identity. The organisation runs Eklavya Ekal Vidyalayas across 9 districts.
The organisation provides educational services for the children of tribal brethren residing in the most remote areas of Vidarbha. Currently, 1185 Eklavya Ekal Vidyalayas are operational in Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal, and Nagpur, with 33,180 students receiving education in these schools.
The teachers of the Eklavya Ekal Vidyalayas do not just educate the children ; they also work in cooperation with the villagers to find solutions to every problem and difficulty faced by the village.
These teachers and supervisors play a major role in organising village cleanliness drives, tree planting, self-employment, self-reliance, and various social and religious programmes. To maintain harmony in the village, these teachers strive to organise collective festivals based on the concept of ‘One Village – One Ganpati/One Durga Puja’.
The teachers and supervisors are also actively involved in helping the poor and uneducated villagers benefit from various Government schemes. In the Amravati district, a surgical camp has been organised by the Rotary Club in Chikhaldara and Dharni talukas for the past 32 years. The organisation has been participating in this camp since 2015. So far, over 5,000 tribals have benefited through these camps.
The organisation is continuously working with the sole aim of fostering interest in education among village students, creating the necessary infrastructure for them to become educated, and nurturing good citizens - a major step in the development of the nation.
