Displeasure has surfaced at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Nava Raipur over the failure to relieve several police station in-charges despite the issuance of recent transfer orders. Sources said that even after clear directions from PHQ, a number of officers continue to hold charge at their previous postings, triggering concern at the top level. According to official sources, the delay in relieving transferred Station House Officers (SHO)s has begun to affect administrative efficiency and field-level functioning. Newly-posted officers are reportedly facing difficulties in assuming charge, leading to gaps in supervision and operational continuity at police stations.

The issue has been viewed seriously at the PHQ, particularly as transfer orders are expected to be implemented promptly to maintain discipline and institutional order. Senior officials pointed out that transfers are part of routine administrative management and any deviation or delay without formal approval undermines the chain of command. Sources indicated that in certain districts, senior officers have cited internal reasons or local requirements to justify the delay in relieving the concerned station in-charges. However, PHQ has reiterated that such explanations cannot override explicit transfer directives issued at the headquarters level.

It is learnt that PHQ is preparing to seek detailed reports from the districts where the transfer orders have not been complied with. The headquarters is likely to review the reasons for the delay on a case-by-case basis to determine accountability. Officials hinted that if the explanations are found unsatisfactory, departmental action against responsible officers cannot be ruled out. The emphasis, sources said, is on ensuring strict adherence to transfer orders and reinforcing administrative discipline within the force.

The situation is being closely monitored, and PHQ is expected to issue further instructions to ensure immediate compliance with the transfer orders in the coming days. “Timely implementation of transfers is critical for maintaining command discipline and operational balance. Any deviation sends the wrong signal down the line, which is why the issue is being taken seriously at the highest level,” a senior IPS officer of ADGP rank, privy to the developments, told The Hitavada on condition of anonymity.
