The order was issued due to the involvement of former Home Minister Bhupendra Singh. The Supreme Court has ordered the Madhya Pradesh DGP to conduct an SIT investigation into the suspicious death of a tribal youth in Sagar. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joy mala Bagchi stated that the Sagar police were not conducting an impartial investigation, and therefore, the investigation was being entrusted to a team of three senior IPS officers. The bench directed the formation of an SIT within two days, which would complete the investigation and submit its report within a month.
The petition, filed in the Supreme Court by BJP activist Govind Singh Rajput, a resident of Malthone, challenged the FIR lodged against him. He alleged that Nilesh Adivasi had initially filed a false FIR against him at the behest of MLA Bhupendra Singh. He later withdrew his allegations after appearing in court.
It is alleged that Nilesh was pressured again, but he refused to comply, and died shortly thereafter. Instructions not to take action against family members: Senior advocate Maninder Singh and advocate Vivek
Ranjan Pandey presented case on behalf of the petitioner. The bench passed the order, not only granting bail to Rajput, but also directing an SIT probe into the case. It said no action be taken against Nilesh’s brother Neeraj or family members.
