Madhya Pradesh witnessed a dip in temperatures across the State, with the cold wave continuing to impact Bhopal district. Winds remained mild, blowing at an average speed of 6-8 kmph, and the state recorded no rainfall in the last 24 hours. During this period, the weather stayed generally dry in all divisions. Maximum temperatures remained almost unchanged and were slightly below normal by 2°C in Rewa division, while other areas recorded normal highs.
Minimum temperatures were significantly lower in Bhopal division, about 4°C below normal, and slightly below normal by 1.7°C in Indore division. Other divisions reported normal night temperatures.
Synoptic conditions indicate the presence of a Western Disturbance as an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and surrounding regions at around 3.1 km above sea level.
A trough associated with the Western Disturbance persists in the middle troposphere roughly along longitude 60°E north of latitude 30°N. The Subtropical Westerly Jet Stream continues to blow over northwest India with core winds reaching up to 222 kmph at 12.6 km above mean sea level. Indigo Airlines has also appealed to passengers to continuously check their flight status via the airline’s website or mobile app, as the flight schedule may change due to fog in Delhi. It is noteworthy that just one day prior, on December 14, a total of 19 arrivals
and 19 departures were scheduled at Raja Bhoj Airport, and no flights were cancelled on that day.
