Metro ridership up 528 pc from 2021 to 2025

Nagpur Metro ridership rose by 528 percent if we analyse the data from 2021 to data of 2025. However, when compared to 2024, it recorded only a 9.6 per cent increase in ridership, with passenger journeys rising by 28,85,614 over the full-year total of 2024. This followed a rise of 12.8 per cent in 2024, when ridership increased by 34,11,432 journeys over 2023. A sharper growth phase was seen in 2023, which added 74,46,596 passenger journeys, depicting a 38.7 per cent increase over 2022.

The highest jump was recorded in 2022, when ridership rose by 1,40,01,641 from 52,56,832 passengers journeys in 2021, indicating a 266.5 per cent increase. A comparison of daily passenger journeys during the last month under review further reinforces this trend. Also, during the November-December period, several days in 2025 recorded daily ridership exceeding one lakh passengers, significantly higher than the corresponding dates in 2024. The combined annual and recent daily data indicate that Nagpur Metro has moved beyond its early growth phase and is steadily consolidating its ridership base, and has contributed to long-term urban mobility in the city.
 
Total ridership over 11 crore in 5 years Nagpur Metro has recorded cumulative journeys crossing 11,43,38,990 over a five-year period. Ridership data shows that Nagpur Metro carried 52,56,832 passengers in 2021. In 2022, passenger journeys rose to 1,92,58,473. In 2023, ridership further increased to 2,67,05,069 journeys. The upward trend continued in 2024, when ridership reached 3,01,16,501. In 2025, ridership figures climbed to 3,30,02,115 journeys up to December 11. So steadily Nagpur Metro is gaining popularity as every passing year the ridership is growing steadily. Taken together, the data shows that while the initial years recorded sharp expansion, Nagpur Metro has now entered a phase of stable and sustained growth.
