New dimension has been added to the history of Bhadravati with the discovery of ancient Jain relics at the Killa Ward area of the city during excavation work. It may be mentioned that Bhadravati is known for its ancient relics of different religions. During the excavation work at Killa Ward, an idol was found in broken condition. After proper examination, the historians claimed that it was an idol of Jain Tirthankar.
 
The idol dates back to 1,100 to 1,300 years old. The experts claimed that more such ancient relics can be found if scientific excavation is done in the area. Ancient Jain relics have been found here during plot digging at Killa Ward on Bengali camp road recently. Along with that two damaged crafts were also found which are said 800 to 1200 years old and a grand mound near these relics is also unearthed. There is a possibility to have buried many ancient remains under it. Jain Munivar Shri Prashamartivijaji informed that there are century old Jain temples in historical places like Mathura, Kosambi, Rajvir, Nalanda, Ayodhya and Varanasi.
 
Many temples, idols have been found during excavation and such relics have been found here also. There should be archaeological excavation under the same place. If some more relics are recovered, Bhadravati will become a historical heritage for the devotees, saints, tourists, Munivar hoped. Meanwhile, MP Pratibha Dhanorkar met Jain Muni Shir Prashmrativijaya and got information about the relics found in the city. She assured all the help for the conservation and development of Jain pilgrimages in the city. Amol Mutha, Trustee, Jain Shwetamber Tirth Mandal, Bhadravati, Santosh Golechcha, Shailesh Kothari were present on the occasion.
