THE 54th Vijay Diwas was
solemnly commemorated at the
station War Memorial, Jabalpur,
by Headquarters Madhya
Bharat Area Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Major
General Sanjay Gautam, Chief
of Staff, Headquarters Madhya
Bharat Area along with distinguished veterans, retired soldiers and serving personnel of
the Armed Forces. Floral tributes were paid to honour the
supreme sacrifice of the valiant
martyrs, who laid down their
lives on the service of nation.
Vijay Diwas,observed annually on December 16, marks
India’s historic victory on
Pakistan in 1971 Indo-Pak war
and commemorates the liberation of East Pakistan leading
to the birth of the sovereign
nation of Bangladesh. On this
day in 1971, Pakistan Army led
by Lieutenant General Amir
Abdullah Khan Niazi, made an
unconditional surrender of
approximately 93,000 troops to
the Indian Armed Forces, marking one of the most decisive military victories in modern
history. The commemoration
served as a solemn reminder
of the courage, professional
ism and indomitable spirit of
the Indian Armed Forces and
reaffirmed the nations enduring gratitude to its war heroes.
