IN A major devel
opment for nursing
education in
Madhya Pradesh,
the Jabalpur High
Court on Tuesday
directed the
Government and
Indian Nursing
Council to immedi
ately commence admission
procedures for vacant nurs
ing seats. The decision came
in response to a petition filed
by NSUI State Vice President
Ravi Parmar and other peti
tioners, challenging serious
irregularities and adminis
trative negligence in the
State’s nursing admission
process
The court noted that
despite the Supreme Court
extending the final admission
date to December 31, 2025,
candidates for Post-Basic BSc
Nursing (PB BSc Nursing) and
Master of Science Nursing
(MSc Nursing) were exclud
ed from counselling.
This was against the
Supreme Court’s instructions
that vacant nursing seats
should only be filled by can
didates who appeared in the
state-level entrance exam and
met Indian Nursing Council
eligibility criteria.
The High Court expressed
concern over the large num
ber of unfilled seats.
According to official figures,
66 Government and 3,018 pri
vate college PB BSc Nursing
seats, and 70 Government and
1,120 private MSc Nursing
seats, remain vacant.
The
court observed that admin
istrative delays were putting
thousands of students’ futures
at risk.
Directing the Indian
Nursing Council to issue for
mal orders immediately, the
court instructed that sepa
rate counselling for PB BSc
and MSc Nursing seats must
be completed by December
31, 2025. This ruling provides
relief to thousands of students in Madhya Pradesh,
ensuring that vacant seats are
filled in a timely and trans
parent manner.
