A COMBINE team of Khamaria and Ranjhi police raided an ille gal liquor kiln and destroyed 90 litres illicit liquor and 25,000 litres of raw material in Westland area in Khamaria. According to police, acting on information that a large quanti ty of illicit country liquor was being manufactured near a dirty drain flowing through the forest close to the Westland Khamaria temple, police team raided the spot. In the raid, police found that Bablu alias Sunil Sonkar and Vikas Sonkar, both residents of Bapu Nagar, Ranjhi, were oper ating an illicit liquor distillation setup near the drain. Four white plastic containers and one blue jerrycan were found at the site.

 

Upon noticing the police, both accused managed to escape by taking advantage of the forest terrain. At the spot, police recovered a total of 90 litres of illicit coun try liquor from four white con tainers and one jerrycan. On the bank of the drain, approximate ly 25,000 litres of raw material for liquor production was found stored in 35 plastic drums and 12 plastic water tanks. The entire quantity of raw material was destroyed on the spot. Liquor making equipment, including a furnace and a metal plate used for extracting liquor was also seized. Khamaria police have regis tered a case against the accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act at Khamaria Police Station.

 

Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the absconding accused, Bablu alias Sunil Sonkar and Vikas Sonkar, residents of Bapu Nagar, Ranjhi.
