NSUI delegation opposes anomalies at Eklavya Residential School, Barbati, submits memo

A DELEGATION of National
Students' Union of India (NSUI)
submitted a memorandum to
the Divisional Commissioner,
Jabalpur Division, regarding seri
ous irregularities in education
al and residential facilities at the
Eklavya Residential School,
Barbati (Bargi), Jabalpur district. Submitted under the leader
ship of NSUI District President
Sachin Rajak, the memorandum
stated that the objective of
Eklavya Residential School,
which operates under the Tribal
Affairs Department, Government
of MP, is to provide quality education, safety and adequate residential facilities to tribal stu
dents. However, the condition of
the basic facilities particularly
quality of food, provided to the
school’s students is extremely
worrying.
The memorandum
also highlighted that being a res
idential school, food, accom
modation and health facilities
for the students are of paramount
importance. However, the stu
dents neither receive food regu
larly, nor is its quality meets the
prescribed standards.
The delegation also recalled
that previously, several students
at another residential school in
Rampur had fallen ill due to sub
standard food. The NSUI demanded to conduct an immediate inspection
at all the residential schools in
Jabalpur district to ensure proper quality and standard in the
food and residential facilities.
If
any negligence is found at any
level, appropriate disciplinary
action be taken against the con
cerned officers and employees
to prevent the recurrence of such
irregularities in the future.
Rajak said that any compro
mise with the students’ safety,
health and education is unac
ceptable and the administration
should intervene seriously in this
matter.
