A FATHER and his minor son
were caught red-handed while
attempting to steal a brass bell
from the Durga Temple in the
Narayan Nagar area of Bag
Sewaniya. The incident occurred
on Sunday around 1:30 pm when
local residents intercepted the
duo as they tried to flee with the
stolen property.
The accused has been identified as Harish Lodhi, a resident
of Bairagarh. According to wit
nesses, Lodhi arrived at the temple on a motorcycle accompanied by his minor son. After
detaching the temple bell, he
was attempting to escape with
his son when a woman cleaning
the temple premises noticed the
act and raised an alarm.
Alert
neighbors quickly surrounded
the bike and prevented their
escape.
Bharat Dubey, a member of
the Durga Temple committee,
stated that the stolen bell was
recovered from the suspect’s pos
session during the confrontation. Bagsewaniya Police were immediately notified and
arrived at the scene shortly
after. Both the father and son
were taken into custody and
transported to the police station. The motorcycle used in
the crime and the stolen bell
have been seized as evidence.
Police have registered a formal
case of theft and have initiated a detailed investigation.

security situation in the
Narayan Nagar locality.
They
alleged that the area has seen
a spike in thefts recently,
including multiple incidents of
motorcycle thefts from out
side residential houses.
Station House Officer (SHO)
Amit Sony stated that the
police are taking the increasing incidents of temple thefts
seriously. “The suspects are
being interrogated to check
their involvement in other
crimes. We are deploying additional police force for intensified patrolling in the area to
ensure public safety,” the SHO
added.
