Gulhane clinches bronze in All India University Games

NAGPUR swimmer Yash Gulhane delivered a strong performance on the national stage by winning a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke at the All India University Games 2025, currently being held at the SRM University Swimming Pool, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Representing Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), Gulhane competed in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke events at the championship. Along with his podium finish in the 100m breaststroke, he secured 4th place in the 50m breaststroke and 12th place in the 200m breaststroke. He also represented RTMNU in relay events. With this performance, Gulhane has qualified in all three breaststroke events—50m, 100m, and 200m—for the Khelo India University Games 2026, where he will again represent RTMNU. Last month, at the Khelo India University Games 2025 held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Gulhane won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke and a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke, creating history for his university. Gulhane has become the first-ever male swimmer from RTMNU to win a medal at the University Nationals.

During the current championship, he also clocked the fastest-ever 100m breaststroke time by a swimmer from Nagpur, recording 1:05.85. A final year B Tech Computer Science Engineering student at GH Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur, Gulhane expressed gratitude for the support from coaches Nitin Malwade and Roshan Chaudhari. Yash credits his success to the unwavering support of his parents, Dr Pradnya and Anil, and his brother Devesh.
