“Perhaps no party in last 20-25 years has registered such a grand victory in local body polls. I attribute this huge success to people of the State who showed faith in Bharatiya Janata Party and Mahayuti,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed while talking to mediapersons in Nagpur on Sunday. The BJP-led alliance has won around 225 seats. Following this victory, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that this victory belongs to team BJP and is the biggest success in the history of Maharashtra.
In Maharashtra, 129 BJP presidents have been elected, and more than 3,000 ward members have won. The BJP has achieved a bigger victory than it registered in 2017. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “This great success was achieved under the leadership of State President Ravindra Chavan.
Former President Chandrashekhar Bawankule too endeavoured.
The BJP has won 129 president positions, and the alliance partners together account for 75 per cent of the elected Presidents. The BJP has set a new record in terms of ward member seats. Earlier, in the 2017 elections, the BJP had 1,602 ward members, and now it has more than double that number--3325. It means 48% seats won by BJP due to larger support from the people. I congratulate Eknath Shinde for the victory. I would say that Assembly performance has repeated. Ravindra Chavan led this election and we got major success. I congratulate Chavan, Bawankule, and our collegues,” Devendra Fadnavis added.
“No one has achieved such a massive victory in the last 20 to 25 years of Maharashtra’s history; this victory belongs to the BJP alliance. During the campaign, I did not speak against any party or person, or any in any of my rallies. I only spoke about development; we presented a blueprint for development to the people. This is the first election in which a Chief Minister of a party has achieved such a massive victory without criticising anyone. In our country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and NDA is doing constructive work which benefited us. Our senior leaders Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin, J P Nadda showed confidence in us. This is the victory of Team BJP,” Devendra Fadnavis further stated. Nagpur Guardian Minister and Local Body Polls State BJP Head Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLA Pravin Datke were also present.
‘We will review losses’
There are 15 local bodies where we won maximum seats but our Presidential candidates failed to won. Similarly we faced defeat in Chandrapur too. We will review the losses wherever we suffered, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Fadnavis-Gadkari meet
When asked about his meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “We had a meeting with Gadkari where we discussed about the upcoming municipal corporation polls. We are confident about our victory in municipal polls too and victory in Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat polls has given boost to our workers. It will reflect in municipal polls too.”
About managing the torrent of aspirants towards BJP, Fadnavis stated, “It is very difficult but we conducted surveys and based upon it, we have chalked out our strategy. Party workers are made aware of their roles vis a vis BJP. We hope they will understand and thereby we can prevent their exodus.”
Opposition failed to know people’s pulse
Replying to a question, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made it clear, “Vote chori was never an issue. I don’t understand why Opposition keeps taking up it. I feel they failed to understand the people’s pulse. They must try to know what people want. In my any campaign speech, I did not criticise any person or organisation. They too should talk about the work they have done or whatever they want to do. Our victory is people’s mandate.”
People rejected MVA,
says Bawankule
Maharashtra Minister, Nagpur’s Guardian Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party State Head for local body polls Chandrashekhar Bawankule claimed the Mahayuti had achieved a ‘good lead’ in the local body polls, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi had been rejected.
Speaking to reporters at Nagpur airport, Bawankule said, “The Mahayuti has with full strength taken a very good lead in Maharashtra and the people have rejected the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP). Today is a day of celebration. I had earlier said only Contd from page 1
Governments led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis can develop Maharashtra. People have chosen Mahayuti in the elections. People are with development, Devendra Fadnavis and Mahayuti as they want Viksit Maharashtra. The BJP has never before got such huge success in Municipal Council elections. I want to congratulate the voters, BJP workers, CM Fadnavis and state BJP president Ravindra Chavan,” Bawankule pointed out. Bawankule also said the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) needs to introspect.
