In two separate actions, the Kalamna and Ajni police arrested three youths and seized a large quantity of banned nylon kite string during routine patrolling in different parts of the city. In the first case, the Kalamna police arrested Rahul Shivkumar Sonbair (19), a resident of the Dipti Signal area. The incident took place on Saturday night during a patrol. The police received information that a youth was selling banned nylon kite string in the area. Acting on the tip-off, the police reached the spot and detained Rahul.
 
During a search, ten spools of nylon kite string worth around Rs 20,000 were seized from him. A case was registered against him under the Environment Protection Act. In another case, the Ajni police seized banned nylon kite string worth Rs 1.20 lakh on Sunday morning. The accused were identified as Eihtesham Khan Salim Khan (19) of Sangharsh Nagar and Mohammad Mehboob Alam Mohammad Mustaq Sheikh (19) of Parvati Nagar, Majri. The police stopped an e-rickshaw moving suspiciously near the railway police canteen area. On inspection, 120 spools of banned nylon kite string were found. The e-rickshaw was also seized. Cases have been registered in both incidents.
