A SHOCKING case of impersonation and threat has come to light, where a lawn owner was allegedly threatened by a person claiming to be the Personal Assistant (PA) of the Chief Minister. Bajaj Nagar police have registered a case against the accused, identified asVarun Mehadia, and have launched a search to trace him. The complainant, Vijay Talewar, aresident of Ramdaspeth, owns Sai Vatika Lawn and Sai Mauli Banquet located in Bajaj Nagar. According to the complaint, a man named Parshuram Dighore had booked Sai Mauli Banquet for his daughter’s wedding on December 11. Dighore claimed to be the PA of Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal. He also booked the lawn for three days to accommodate people said to be associated with the minister. A dispute later arose between Dighore and Talewar over pending payment for the bookings.

After some discussion, the issue was settled and the outstanding amount was paid. However, the matter took a serious turn on the morning of December 19. Talewar received a phone call from an unknown mobile number. The caller introduced himself as Varun Mehadia and claimed to be a PA working at the Chief Minister’s office at Hyderabad House in Nagpur. The caller questioned Talewar for demanding payment and allegedly threatened him. He said that he managed arrangements at the Chief Minister’s office. Talewar immediately contacted the Chief Minister’s office to verify the claim. He was informed that no person named Varun Mehadia was working there.

Realising that he had been misled and threatened, Talewar approached Bajaj Nagar police and filed a formal complaint. After a preliminary inquiry, police registered a case against Varun Mehadia for impersonation and criminal intimidation. The police are now trying to trace the accused using the mobile number from which the threatening call was made.
