THE Election Commission of
India (ECI) has launched the
Special Intensive Revision (SIR)
of electoral rolls in Madhya
Pradesh with the aim of ensur
ing maximum participation,
complete inclusion of eligible
voters, and full transparency at
every stage of the process. The
revision is designed to make sure
that no eligible voter is left out
and no ineligible name remains
in the rolls.
As of December 23, 2025, out
of 5,74,06,143 eligible voters,
5,31,31,983 have already sub
mitted their enumeration forms,
marking an overwhelming
response in the first phase of
SIR.
This success is the result of
co-ordinated efforts by District
Election Officers (DEs) across
all 55 districts, 230 Electoral Rolls
(ERs), 532 Assistant ERs (AERs),
and Booth Level Officers (BLOs)
deployed at 65,014 polling
booths, supported by volunteers.
Representatives from all six
nationally recognised political
parties, including their district
presidents, have actively par
ticipated, appointing 1,35,882
booth level agents (BLAs) to
assist in the process.
To ensure that no eligible vot
er is left behind, extensive aware
ness campaigns were conduct
ed by Chief Electoral Officers,
DEs, and ERs. Booths carried out house-to-house visits, fol- lowed by multiple visits to col
lect completed forms. BLAs were
allowed to fill up to 50 forms per
day, ensuring full involvement
and coverage. Special camps
were arranged in urban areas to
facilitate voter registration, and
social media, radio channels,
and even garbage collection
vehicles were used to spread
awareness.
Early completion of
work was appreciated, with over
2,500 BLOs felicitated across dis
tricts. Young voters turning 18
on or before January 1, 2026,
were actively encouraged to reg
ister through Form-6. Voters
reported as deceased, shifted,
untraceable, or whose forms
were not received were cross-ver
ified by BLAs appointed by polit
ical parties. The entire election
machinery, supported by vol
unteers, has been assisting sen
ior citizens, persons with dis
abilities, and other vulnerable
groups.
The Draft Electoral Roll
was published on December 23
in printed and digital formats,
accessible to all recognised polit
ical parties and the public via
the CEO’s website. During the claims and objec
tions period from December 23
to January 22, 2026, voters can
file claims for inclusion or dele
tion of names. All deletions will
be carried out only after due
notice and a speaking order from
the ER/AER. Aggrieved voters
can appeal to the District
Magistrate and thereafter to the
Chief Electoral Officer.
