IN A major step to streamline traffic and clear public places of illegal encroachments, the Municipal Corporation carried out a major antiencroachment drive in several parts of the city. Acting on strict instructions from Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar, anti-encroachment squad took action in prominent commercial and high-traffic areas. Senior officials said that in the Garha area, the left and right turns near Kachpura Bridge were completely cleared. Illegal handcarts and temporary structures at the spot had been causing frequent traffic congestion.

In the Vijay Nagar area, temporary encroachments occupying footpaths were removed, restoring safe passage for pedestrians who were earlier forced to walk on the main road. Likewise, in the Gol Bazaar area, illegal roadside shops and temporary structures along the vehicle route were removed. A major action was also taken at Civic Centre, where the chowpati in front of the busy Mall was cleared. Haphazardly placed stalls outside the mall had been severely obstructing vehicular movement.

At the Teen Patti Bus Stand area, encroachments were removed and spot fines were imposed on rule violators. During the drive, Municipal Corporation teams carried out announcements through public address system and warned traders and handcart operators against reencroachment. Clear instructions were issued that goods would be seized if encroachments were repeated. Officials said challans and further disciplinary action would be taken against those violating civic norms.

Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar stated that the drive aimed at city beautification and smooth traffic flow will continue on a regular basis. He said that no temporary or permanent encroachments on public spaces will be tolerated in future.
