MANTHAN Kale ran through Gujarat’s second innings to help Vidarbha register an innings win in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match at KSCA Ground 2, Shimoga on Thursday. Needing just 42 runs to make Vidarbha bat again, Gujarat resumed their second innings on 70-2 on the final morning and lost their remaining eight wickets for 40 runs. Manthan picked six wickets for 28 runs to finish with match figures of 8-61, while Viraaj Maheshwari, who had a fifer in the first innings, finished with 6-57. Vidarbha picked up 7 points from this match to go atop Elite Group A table with 23 points from four matches.

Vidarbha 1st innings 248 all out in 87.1 overs (Kashyap Pataskar 50, Malhar Dhurad 30, Kush Sharma 73, Arjun Mahajan 25; Trinabh Shukla 4-59, Ridham Patel 3-39). Gujarat 2nd innings 110 all out in 59.5 overs (Manthan Kale 6-28, Om Dhotre 2-24, Viraaj Maheshwari 1-18). Result: Vidarbha won by an innings and two runs.
