On the third day of the nomination filing for Nagpur Municipal Corporation polls, ex-corporator, senior office-bearer of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar group Abha Pandey and three others filed nominations on Friday. Filing of nominations began on December 23 but nobody filed nominations in the first two days. It was holiday on Thursday due to Christmas. On Friday, four persons filed nominations.

 

The response of candidates filing nomination is not very enthusiastic as major political parties have not yet declared the list of their official candidates. Pandey, who won the polls in 2017 as an independent, filed nomination from two wards- Prabhag 21 C (General Women) and Prabhag 21 D (General). Prabhag 21 houses Tukdoji Mahadwar, Maskasath, Itwari etc.

 

Abha Pandey had worked as Standing Committee Chairperson. In 2024, she contested Assembly polls from Nagpur East as an Independent candidate. Vidyasagar Tripathi of Congress filed nomination from Prabhag 4 (D), reserved for General category. This prabhag covers Rambhumi Chowk, Kalamna market, Bharatwada etc. Varsha Dethe, belonging to Congress, has filed nomination from Prabhag 13 (A) reserved for Scheduled Caste. The areas Hajaripahad, Vayusena Nagar and others come in this prabhag.
