BHILAI Nagar police have intensified surveillance and preventive measures to curb the movement of pickpockets and chain
snatchers in the Sector-6 area,
where a religious programme is
currently in progress. As part of
the drive, police apprehended
ten suspects, including nine
women, on suspicion of involvement in criminal activities.
According to police, a special
team has been deployed to prevent incidents of pickpocketing
and chain snatching during the
religious discourse programme
in progress at Jayanti Stadium
area in Bhilai.
Continuous monitoring is being carried out in
and around the event pandal,
with particular focus on suspects
and organised gangs, including
those from outside the state.
During security checks conducted inside and around the
programme venue, police
detained several suspicious men
and women who were found
roaming without valid entry
passes or identity proof. On questioning, none of them could produce any valid ID documents,
including Aadhaar cards.
Following preliminary interrogation, Bhilai Nagar police initiated preventive action against
the suspects. An ‘Istgasa’ (preventive case) was prepared and
all the detained persons were
produced before the SDM Court
for further legal proceedings. The
suspects rounded up during
the preventive action were identified as Kamsa Marmuttu
Naidu, Kajal Naidu, Pooja Naidu, Rajni Naidu and Roshni
Naidu, residents of Navapur, Nandurbar, Maharashtra;
Suman Ikran and Anita Jatav, residents of Bharatpur,
Rajasthan; Moni Jatav and Guddi Jatav, residents of
Harinagar, Palwal, Haryana and Gauri Jatav, a resident of
Chitaukri, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
Police stated that strict
vigilance will continue throughout the duration of the religious event to ensure the safety and security of devotees
and to prevent any untoward incidents.
