THE first phase of the Metro Rail
project in Bhopal is reaching its
final stage. Construction work
on the Priority Corridor from
Subhash Nagar to AIIMS is nearly complete, and the Metro is
expected to start carrying passengers on this track soon.
Meanwhile, the pace of work has
been accelerated to meet the
stipulated deadline for the second phase of the Orange Line.
Under this phase, the construction of piers (pillars) from Nabi
Bagh to Karond Square is progressing rapidly. The process of
placing girders on the 20 pillars
constructed at Karond Square is
likely to begin this week. This
girder launching will span from
Pillar Number 321 to Pillar
Number 341, and pillar camps
are currently being installed for
this purpose.
Main Corridor Spans 16.74
Kilometres: The main Orange
Line corridor, which runs from
AIIMS to Karond, has a total
length of 16.74 kilometres. The
section of this line from AIIMS
to the Metro Depot at Subhash
Nagar is fully prepared.
The 4.74 kilometre section
from Pul Bogda to Karond Square
is seeing accelerated work.
