THE Chhattisgarh Raj Bhavan will now be officially known as Lok Bhavan. Following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Secretary of Governor, Dr C R Prasanna, issued an order on Tuesday to rename the Raj Bhavan as Lok Bhavan. This change aligns with a suggestion made during the Conference of Governors2024, where it was proposed that all Raj Bhavans be renamed as Lok Bhavans.

 

Consequently, in compliance with the Ministry’s letter, all official Government communications and references will henceforth use the name Lok Bhavan instead of Raj Bhavan. This renaming symbolises a shift towards emphasising public accessibility and democratic ethos in the functioning of the Governor’s residence. The Secretary to the Governor has formalised this change for all government purposes.
