Staff Reporter:
THE Chhattisgarh Medical Education
Department has issued a major relaxation in eligibility for admission to the
BSc Nursing course for the academic session 2025-26, declaring that candidates securing 10 percentile or
above in the Common Entrance Test
(CET) 2025 will also be eligible for
admission against vacant seats. The
move is expected to benefit a wider
pool of applicants as the admission
cycle approaches its closing window.
Also, the decision is aimed at preventing seat wastage and strengthening the intake pipeline for nursing
education, while keeping the
admission framework within the regulatory guidance issued by the national council.
The department said the decision
has been taken with reference to
guidelines of the Indian Nursing
Council (INC), New Delhi. Officials
explained that CET 2025 earlier had
a higher prescribed qualifying requirement for candidates seeking admission to BSc Nursing.
However, in view
of seats remaining unfilled and the
need to ensure optimal utilisation of
available intake, the council has conveyed its consent for a relaxation in
the eligibility benchmark so that
vacancies do not persist.
Clarifying the scope, the department stated that the relaxation is
strictly limited to the current academic session 2025-26 and is meant
only for filling vacant seats.
Candidates who have scored 10 percentile or more in CET 2025 can be
considered eligible for admission in
the remaining seats, subject to completion of the admission process within the notified timeline and adherence to the prevailing procedural requirements.
The Medical Education Department has fixed December
31, 2025, as the last date for admissions under this one time relaxation.
All concerned nursing colleges and institutions in the state have been directed to ensure admissions of eligible candidates by the deadline. The department has also underlined that the relaxation is being extended under provisions of the Chhattisgarh Nursing
Course Admission Rules, 2019, and institutions must maintain compliance with the rules while processing admissions against vacancies.
