Samarth hammered hundreds
as Vidarbha recorded a convincing five-wicket win over Jammu
and Kashmir in their third round
Elite Group B league match of
Vijay Hazare Trophy in Rajkot on
Monday.
Vidarbha’s decision to bowl
first appeared to have backfired
as J&K posted a competitive score
of 311-9. However, Vidarbha’s
batsmen led by Mokhade (139;
125b, 16x4, 3x6) and Samarth
(114; 108b, 12x4) were up to the
task and had little difficulty in
reaching the target with nine
deliveries to spare.
Vidarbha lost Yash Rathod and
Dhruv Shorey with only 52 runs
on the board before Mokhade
and Samarth added 218 runs for
the third wicket to set up the victory. Skipper Harsh Dubey and
Yash Kadam applied the final
touches taking the team home
for their second consecutive win.
Mokhade was adjudged the
Player of the Match.
J&K’s total was possible due tofifties by top-order batters
Qamran Iqbal and Yawer Hassan. For Vidarbha, Yash Thakur tookthree wickets while DarshanNalkande and Yash Kadamchipped in with a couple of wickets each. Dubey and Praful Hingetook one each.
