MAYOR Gold Cup State-level Junior Girls Kabaddi Championship will be organised in the city from December 6 to 8, 2025. The championship will be organised under the guidance of Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh Annu and Municipal Corporation Chairperson Rikunj Vij under the auspices of Madhya Pradesh Amateur Kabaddi Association in collaboration with Jabalpur Academy Kabaddi Association.

 

Addressing a press conference, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh informed that the eams from all zones of Madhya Pradesh are participating in the tournament. Each zone will field two teams in girls category including Bhopal Zone 02 teams, Indore Zone 02 teams, Gwalior Zone 02 teams, Sagar Zone 02 teams, Narmadapuram Zone 02 teams, Ujjain Zone 02 teams, Rewa Zone 02 teams and Balaghat Zone – 02 teams.

 

Total 20 teams comprising around 250 players, 30 officials and 50 coaches/managers will participate in the championship. Matches will be played at MLB School, Jabalpur, while a control room has also been set up at MLB School. Besides this, boarding arrangements for 10 teams has been made at Government Model School, six teams will stay at Youth Welfare Department, Ranital, four teams at Government Home Science Women’s College Hostel and accommodation for officials, coaches and managers is available at Youth Hostel, Ranital.

 

Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has arranged one Metro Bus for team transport. The inauguration programme will be held on December 6 in presence of Mayor Singh MLA Ashok Rohani, Rinku Vij, Chairperson, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Digvijay Singh, Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association and others. Jabalpur Academy Kabaddi Association, Secretary, Chanda Soni and other office-bearers have appealed to all print and electronic media to promote and support kabaddi, the traditional sport of India rooted in Sanatan culture, to help encourage and strengthen the sport further.
