A DIAMOND may be rare but cannot be more rarer than a 1933 Chevrolet Master Eagle which is one of the only 500 cars manufactured in the world. Today, only a few survive. The 1933 build makes the car one of the oldest cars in Vidarbha claims Rukshad Bhagwagar who is the third owner of the American made car with a Phaeton body type (4 door convertible) and owns it over for a year now. Rukshad, an exporter by profession, will be driving his car at the Rotary-The Hitavada Vintage Car Rally to be held on December 28 at St Ursula Girls High School in Civil Lines. The car retained its original burgundy colour and boasts of 1125 CC of power. “It’s a big beautiful machine but still has grace and elegance. Despite being 92-years-old, it runs silently and beautifully, It has been restored with all original parts,” informed Rukshad. Rukshad has no issues with spare parts as his local friends are experts. “We need support because we are preserving heritage of the nation,” Rukshad signed off.

Simplicity and Ruggedness: Features of Ford GPV Jeep

THE World War-II era Ford GPV owned by Aqeel Ahmed is a testament to Jeep’s legacy of its simplicity and ruggedness. The off-roading capabilities the jeep flaunts even with a full load of soldiers with their full armoury is truly commendable. Aqeel Ahmed, who is 65 years of age, will be driving his 1944 Ford GPV which he has owned since last 20 years as its fourth owner, at the Rotary-The Hitavada Vintage Car Rally to be held on December 28 at St Ursula Girls High School in Civil Lines. Aqeel, an owner of an automobile restoration company which specialises in component repair and restoration said, “Spare parts are not a problem as we brothers are specialists in making auto components. “My family has enjoyed many picnics and long drives into the jungles and remote places with this ‘go anywhere’ jeep which has a 1500CC mated to a three speed four-wheel drive gearbox. “Whenever we go, many people stop to ask about its history and take pictures and videos. We are happy that our proud possession is bringing joy and happiness to persons of all ages and making memories for many youngsters. “I feel the authorities concerned should help and encourage us to keep our vehicles on the road as we are preserving the automotive heritage of our country,” said Aqeel.
