A man threatened a city doctor that he would blow up his hospital using a vehicle loaded with gas cylinders and demanded Rs 11 crore to settle a land deal for the hospital. Dhantoli Police have registered a case against Neeraj Radheshyam Gandhi, a resident of Vijayanand Society, Wardha Road, based on a complaint filed by Dr Mahesh Chandulal Fulwani (55) of Shrikrishna Hospital, Dhantoli. According to police, Dr Fulwani was searching for land to construct a hospital. His friend, Narendra Gandhi, showed him a plot in the Somalwada area.

Dr Fulwani made a deal with M/s Kanchanganga Realtors Pvt Ltd’s Director, Sudhanshu Degwekar, and Raju Dawda to purchase the land for Rs 13.50 crore on November 10, 2017. He also paid an initial token amount of Rs 5 crore. However, the remaining amount was not paid as Monarch Infrastructure’s Director, Ashish Rathi, had filed a court case related to the land. Later, in November 2017, Neeraj Gandhi visited Dr Fulwani at his hospital and questioned him about the land deal. He allegedly claimed that he had already finalised a deal for the same plot.

Later, Gandhi started demanding Rs 5 crore from Dr Fulwani over the phone and also threatened to implicate him in a false case. On August 26, 2024, Gandhi sent a WhatsApp message to Dr Fulwani on his mobile number, 9921120005 and assured that the matter could be settled for Rs 11 crore. When Dr Fulwani did not respond, the accused threatened to blow up his hospital by crashing a vehicle laden with gas cylinders and demanded Rs 11 crore. A case under Sections 308(3) and 351(3) of BNS was registered by Dhantoli Police.
