A shocking incident unfolded at Rani Kamlapati Railway Station’s parking area on April 26, when three people, including a woman, allegedly assaulted Government Railway Police (GRP) Constable Nazar Daulat Khan and tore his uniform. The confrontation began when Khan objected to the group consuming liquor inside an SUV parked near Bansal One. The situation escalated, with the accused reportedly making derogatory religious remarks against Khan after noticing his name.
According to police, GRP team, including Khan, was patrolling the station premises at around 2 am when they spotted the trio consuming alcohol. When Khan asked them to leave, an argument broke out, turning into physical. A fourth individual, also allegedly intoxicated, joined the group and got indulged in the assault. A video circulating on social media captured the youths attacking Khan with blows, ignoring his attempts to de-escalate.
Head constables Sandeep and Kamal Raghuvanshi intervened to rescue Khan but faced resistance. One assailant reportedly warned Sandeep not to interfere, citing his religious identity, further escalating tension. The attackers fled as crowd gathered at the scene. Assistant Sub-Inspector R D Tekam confirmed that one suspect, Jitendra Yadav, a bike taxi rider from Chhola Mandir, was apprehended at the scene. Yadav claimed he was at the station to drop off a passenger. An FIR has been filed against three individuals under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for assault, public nuisance and causing communal disharmony. Efforts are on to locate the remaining suspects, with police checking the CCTV footage and witness statements. The incident has sparked outrage, with authorities urging public to refrain from such disruptive behaviour. GRP has intensified patrolling at station to prevent similar incidents, emphasising strict action against those disrupting public order.
