City Police on high alert

Staff Reporter :

Focus on Human Intelligence The CP has instructed police station officials to focus on developing human intelligence instead of relying solely on digital evidence. He directed officers to actively patrol crowded areas and gather information on the activities of local goons.

In a bid to bolster the security apparatus, Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal on Monday directed all police station units to remain on ‘high alert’ and intensify checking at vulnerable spots. In his directive, the CP instructed officers to step up checks at crowded places and sensitive locations, with standing orders for the swift checking of suspects. Sources informed that CP Dr Singal is in a no-nonsense mood and is closely reviewing the performance of senior police officials and members of the Detection squads during their daily activities. Following murders linked to gang wars in the city and after identifying lapses in the Detection Branch at certain police stations, the CP disbanded the DB squads at Kapil Nagar and Jaripatka police stations.

He has warned police station officials that any lethargy in their working patterns will not be tolerated. Simultaneously, the Police Commissioner is personally visiting police stations daily to review diary entries, FIRs registered, pending cases, detection rates, and prevention measures. He is also inspecting the work culture adopted by senior police officials. During his recent visit to Gittikhadan Police Station, he inspected the entire premises and interacted with staff and citizens. During earlier visit to MIDC Police Station, the CP suspended three PSIs for dereliction of duty. The CP’s visits are kept confidential, and even the Zonal Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) are often unaware of his inspections.
