VIDARBHA Cricket
Association (VCA) has
announced the induction of
its franchises for the inaugural edition of the Vidarbha Pro
T20 League (VPTL) 2025.
The event, organised by
Arivaa Sports, was graced by
Vidarbha Cricket Association
President Justice Vinay M
Deshpande, former judge of
the Bombay High Court and
Prashant Vaidya, Governing
Council Chairman, VPTL.
The tournament will be
played at VCA’s Jamtha
Stadium in morning and
evening sessions.
According to a VCA press
release six franchises —
Jayaswal Neco Group, Abhijit
Realtors, Sanvijay Group,
Rohit Iron & Steel, Lily
Infraventure (Consortium)
and Pagariya Group — have
been inducted following successful completion of all procedural and compliance
requirements.
Following three franchises
— Jayaswal Neco Group,
Abhijit Realtors and Sanvijay
Group — will also own an
additional women’s team,
marking a strong step toward
inclusivity and balanced representation in regional cricket. If sources are to be
believed, a total of 13 bidders
showed interest in being part
of the maiden edition of
VPTL.
“Thirteen bidders
from Vidarbha showed interest in owning a team in the
inaugural edition of VPTL.
One of the renowned jewellers of the city was almost
certain to be one of the franchises but he backed out at
the last moment. After several rounds of scrutiny, the six
were finalised,” a source told
‘The Hitavada’.
In all probability, the tournament will kick-off from the
first week of June.
“This is a historic moment
for cricket in Vidarbha. The
induction of these franchises
marks the beginning of an
exciting journey that will give
a platform to home-grown
talent and bring professional
T20 cricket to our region,”
Justice Deshpande (Retd)
said in a release.
Vaidya, Chairman of the
Governing Council of VPTL,
added: “The Vidarbha
Premier T20 League is more
than just a tournament — it
is a celebration of regional
cricket and an opportunity
for young players to shine.
With all the franchises on
board, we are ready to deliver
a world-class sporting experience to fans and players
alike.”
Vaidya impressed upon
them the importance of forging a long-term partnership
between the VCA and the
franchises in order to successfully promote the game
at the grassroots level in the
entire Vidarbha region.
He
also urged the franchises to
join hands with VCA to build
a strong brand, resulting in a
win-win situation for all the
stakeholders in VPTL.
The VPTL has already
announced two icons of
Indian cricket, Umesh Yadav
and Jhulan Goswami, as its
official brand ambassadors
for the upcoming season.
With Umesh and Jhulan
onboard, the league is poised
to make a strong impact in its
debut season and beyond,
added the release. Further
details on team names, teamcompositions, tournament
schedule and fixtures will beannounced soon by the association.
VCA will have to plan thefixtures looking at the fast
approaching monsoon. But
they are confident of makingthe maiden event a grandsuccess.
“The drainage facility at
VCA Jamtha Stadium isexceptional. So, there won’t
be much delay if it rains onthe match day.
The ground will be matchready within half an hour
after therain stops,” the source saidconfidently
